"Serving since 1938, this outside table and take-out only joint hit the spot for lunch. We had a "loose meat" burger and nachos with extra Hormel chili. Friendly staff!"

"Latest 8/14/25 Under new owners. Super nice family. Same great food and service! Prices have not changed! Looking forward to my next visit!! Update; Same great service & food. I was charged for 2 sandwhiches. I only had 1. I brought it to their attention after i thought about it a bit. They were sceptical... but did refund me appropriately. I was calm about it, so was they. Poor girl looked scared when I asked how we got to 22$ for what I ordered. I'll definitely be back for another burger!! . Good food, good people. Stuff happens. What a great little hidden gem!! I've stopped at the SPAM museum several times and no one ever mentioned this place, that is just around the corner!! The ladies behind the counter, was fun, and very friendly, lovely ladies for sure!! I had the classic with bacon...delicious!!! I also had one of their shakes, black berry that too was amazing!! This place will now be on my stop list for sure!! Bummed Ive not known sooner!!"

"We love Tendermaid! Great food, great service, and a great family-friendly atmosphere. It's become a monthly tradition for us to drive over from Rochester just to enjoy lunch here. The burgers are always fresh and delicious, and the milkshakes are THE BEST!! The new ownership is doing a fantastic job--super friendly and welcoming. A classic spot that continues to impress!"

"We stopped here after visiting the nearby Spam museum. We are visiting from San Antonio, Texas. The friendly staff explained the options and a little history. We sat outside. We enjoyed the Tootsie Rolls included with our purchase"

"I've been in Austin for about 8 months now and have often heard about how good the food here was so i had to try it out myself. It was as good as everyone has said. Nice little place, solid options, great food, but the staff were super nice too. Even when I said I had never been there before they took the time to give me a run down of what they had. The banana shake will have me coming back again and again!"

- Calen A.

"Stuck here in Austin as trucker wanted to get food so I'd figured I'd try something local so the TenderMaid was closest and I thought it to be unique and so was my experience. Service with a smile is an understatement good spirited and engaging which made the sandwich taste all the better and the shake was good as well."

"What a delight. I was visiting from out of town and was greeted by the owners and felt like a local. The food was great and the service even better. They made me a custom burger as I just couldn't decide on the menu as there was too much good stuff. The ambiance reminded me of an old Steven King novel, (well the part in the story with an idyllic small town before the possessed being arrives.) Loved the decor inside and the outdoor tables. I would highly recommend this mom and pop restaurant. Truly a gem!"
